Bringing language to life

Using drama activities in the EFL Primary Classroom

Ponente Jeanne Perrett

Jeanne Perrett has over thirty years' experience in the language teaching sector and has significant experience in teaching children and training teachers. She is also the author of a wide range of English language coursebooks for children and children's novels. Her particular expertise is in the use of drama in the English language classroom as a tool to build confidence, motivation and memory. Her current project is for Trinity College London where she is developing the Trinity Stars Award. These assessments reward achievement in language and performing skills, both of which are vital skills for the modern world.

The English language that we teach our children today needs to be enjoyable and memorable when they are young, and relevant and useful for when our children grow up and need to study, work and communicate globally. Our job is to bring English to life in the classroom and we can do that by using simple performance skills and activities.

Bearing in mind that many schools lack space and resources, Jeanne Perrett shares practical ideas for language-learning drama activities which are easy to manage, very effective and, above all, great fun.
